BNP revokes suspension of 3 Ctg leaders over relocating cars of S Alam
BNP has revoked the suspension of three Chattogram South district leaders accused of transferring 14 luxury cars owned by S Alam Group.
Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the decision on Wednesday (25 December) through separate letters.
The party previously issued a show cause notice on 31 August to Chattogram District BNP South unit Convener Abu Sufian, Joint Convener Enamul Haque Enam and Karnaphuli Thana BNP Convener SM Mamun Mia.
Their actions led to suspension on 1 September, alongside the dissolution of the South district BNP committee.
Now they have their memberships reinstated following appeals.
The letter stated, "Your suspension under the party's constitution on 1 September 2024 is hereby withdrawn. This decision is effective immediately."
It further warned them to maintain party discipline and contribute to its strengthening.
The incident involved secretly relocating high-end cars like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche and Range Rover, belonging to S Alam Group's chairman and his relatives, which were removed from a warehouse, owned by Meer Group in the city's Kalurghat Industrial Area on 29 August.
A video had gone viral where Chattogram District BNP South unit Joint Convener Enamul Haque Enam, Patiya upazila unit Jubo Dal Member Secretary Ahidul Alam Chowdhury Piblu, Chattogram District South unit Chhatra Dal Joint Convener Sheikh Md Hossain Nayan and BNP South unit Convener Abu Sufian's chauffeur Mansoor were seen supervising the event.
The incident follows Bangladesh Bank governor's directive to the public that no one should buy properties that do not have bank mortgages from S Alam Group as depositors would be refunded by banks after selling those.
