Body formed to probe Cumilla train derailment
A probe committee has been formed to look into the derailment of nine bogies of a train at Tejer Bazar in Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla district on Sunday.
Anisur Rahman, Chattogram Railway East division transport officer, was made the chief of the five-member committee.
Earlier in the afternoon, train communication between Dhaka and Chattogram was suspended as the Jamalpur-bound ‘Bijoy Express’ train from Chattogram veered off the tracks in the area after crossing Gunoboti rail station as the rail tracks bent due to hot weather.
A number of trains got stranded at different rail stations, causing immense sufferings to the commuters.
The rescue operation is underway till filing the news at 8:30pm.
