Body of missing Awami League leader recovered
The body of a Upazila-level Awami League leader has been found three days after he went missing in Chittagong's Mirsharai.
The deceased was identified as Abu Taher Bhuiyan, 52, son of the late Mojibur Haque. He served as vice-president of Ward 3 Awami League.
Mirsharai police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Azizul Hakim, who is investigating the case, said that the body was recovered from the Jamal’s Shop area and has been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Family members said that Abu Taher left home on Tuesday to go to the market but never returned.
His wife, Selina Akter, filed a General Diary at Mirsharai police station the following day.
Deceased’s nephew Mehedi Hasan, claimed that since August 5, an individual from a neighboring area had been issuing threats to Taher.
