Broadband internet in the country may remain slow till Saturday (July 27) evening.

After the evening the speed of broadband internet may become normal, said Saidur Rahman, general manager (Operation and Maintenance) of Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCPLC) on Saturday.

He said the maintenance work is going on at the Singapore end of the country's first submarine cable (SEA-ME-WE-4) in Cox's Bazar. As a result, service through circuits connected to Cox's Bazar to Singapore route is temporarily closed.

Internet users are likely to experience slow internet access till Saturday (July 27) evening, he said.

Saidur Rahman said, “The maintenance work is expected to be completed by 6:00pm.”

BSCPLC is a member of International Submarine Cable Consortium (Company) namely SEA-ME-WE-4 and SEA-ME-WE-5. This ensures greater capacity and adequacy of submarine cables in Bangladesh. Bangladesh's Internet service and international voice traffic are carried out through these two cables.
