BSF pushes back 19 Bangladeshis including children through Meherpur border
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed back 19 Bangladeshi nationals, including women and children, through the Sonapur Majhpara border under Mujibnagar upazila in Meherpur early Sunday morning (May 25).
The group, comprising nine children, five women, and five men, had reportedly crossed into India at different times in search of work and had been living in the state of Haryana.
According to local sources, they were detained by Indian authorities from various locations about a week ago and held at Berhampur jail in Murshidabad before being brought to the border and sent back to Bangladesh.
Upon entering Bangladeshi territory, they were found in the Kedarganj Bazar area. Police from Mujibnagar Police Station responded quickly, detained the returnees, and later informed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
Confirming the incident, Mujibnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman said, "The individuals have been taken to the police station for questioning and that legal action will follow as per the law."
