Cabinet approves Tk7,97,000cr proposed budget

The Cabinet has approved the national budget for the financial year 2024-25. The Tk 7,97,000 crore proposed budget was approved in a special cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday (June 1).

Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali will present the proposed budget for the financial year 2024-25 on Thursday (June 6) afternoon at the Jatiya Sangsad with the theme of 'Commitment to building a happy, prosperous, developed and smart Bangladesh'.

This will be the first budget announcement of the finance minister. He left from his residence at Eskaton Garden Road around 10:30 am to announce the budget and reached the Parliament at 11:15.

This will be the first budget of the Awami League-led government after coming to power for the fourth consecutive term. This time the size of the budget is going to be 14.20 percent of GDP. The revenue target in the budget is Tk 5,41,000 crore. The remaining Tk 2,56,000 crore will be collected from borrowing from development partners.

The Annual Development Programme (ADP) worth Tk 2,65,000 crore has already been approved.
