Call for public awareness on Hemophilia Day
On the occasion of World Hemophilia Day 2025, the Hematology Society and Hemophilia Society of Bangladesh organized a rally, discussion meeting and scientific session at Bangladesh Medical University on Thursday (April 17).
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam inaugurated the rally on the university premises. Speakers at the discussion meeting called for increasing public awareness about hemophilia, creating a central registry for disease identification and ensuring low-cost medicines.
Speakers at the discussion meeting said that hemophilia is a bleeding disease in which the blood of the affected person does not clot easily. Only 10 percent of the people affected by this disease have been identified in the country. Most of the patients remain outside the treatment due to the cost of treatment.
Representatives of various organizations including the Department of Health, Drug Administration, Journalists Union and Rose Bangladesh Limited participated in the roundtable meeting and scientific session organized at Dhaka Club.
