Certificates of 2 accused canceled, five permanently expelled
The Jahangirnagar University authorities have permanently canceled the certificate of Mustafizur Rahman, a student of the 45th batch of the university’s International Relations (IR) Department, and Murad Hossain, a student of the 46th batch of the same department, for their involvement in the rape of a wife detaining her husband in a residential hall of the university.
Besides, the rest of the accused have been permanently expelled from the university. All the accused have been declared ‘persona non grata’ in the university.
The decision was made at a syndicate meeting of the university, said JU Registrar Abu Hasan after the meeting on Sunday (March 10) evening.
The permanently expelled students are: 46th batch IR student Mustafa Manwar Siddiqui Sagar, 44th batch IR student Shah Paran, 45th batch IR student Md Hasanuzzaman and Sabbir Hasan Sagar, a student of 47th batch of Botany department. However, the name of another student among those permanently expelled could not be known.
Apart from this, the registrar said that steps will be taken to bring outsider Mamunur Rashid Mamun, who was also allegedly involved in the incident, to book, said the registrar.
