Changes may come to new curriculum: Education minister
Newly appointed Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, has indicated that changes may come to the new curriculum and assessment methods. He said this during an interaction with leaders of the Education Reporters' Association Bangladesh (ERAB) on Friday afternoon.
"Several modifications are being incorporated into the new curriculum. We are evaluating and analyzing these aspects. Wherever changes are deemed necessary, we will certainly implement them. We want to integrate the expertise relevant to the workplace into our curriculum," he added.
He further added that, "There are many challenges in the new curriculum. Regarding the challenges in the assessment methods, if we talk about it, there are various inputs coming for the new curriculum. We are observing these. Changes will be needed in the assessment methods. Additionally, there will be some more modifications in the new curriculum."
Nowfel said, "The new curriculum is not entirely fixed now. As mentioned before, we will address any corrections that come up. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has entrusted me with the responsibility in the new government. Based on past experiences, we will work collaboratively with all stakeholders. We are emphasizing the importance of the workplace in the curriculum. To create opportunities in the workplace for a smart Bangladesh and a smart generation, focus on the workplace is crucial."
He further remarked, "We want to incorporate the expertise related to the workplace into our curriculum. This way, our students can plan for their education based on their understanding of workplace subjects. The essence of the workplace topic is already in our minds, and we want to work on our entire education system."
During the meeting at the Education Ministry's building in the capital, representatives led by ERAB President Shariful Alam Sumon and General Secretary Faruk Hossain engaged in discussions with the new education minister. They exchanged greetings and discussed various education-related issues, including the new curriculum.
