A child has been killed and two others injured in a landslide at Ukhia Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar. The landslide occurred at block B of camp No. 15 at Hakimpara in Ukhia at 10:30am on Friday (December 20). The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. Ukhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Arif Hossain said around 10:30am, the deceased child, Syed Ullah, and some others went to cut soil. One child was killed and two other children were injured in a landslide there. Locals of the camp said since many families do not have any working adults, children do these risky jobs. And many people face such incidents. Today's landslide is one such incident.

কক্সবাজারের উখিয়ায় রোহিঙ্গা ক্যাম্পে পাহাড় ধসের ঘটনা ঘটেছে। এঘটনায় মাটি চাপায় এক শিশু নিহত এবং আরো দুই শিশু আহত হয়েছে। শুক্রবার (২০ ডিসেম্বর) সকাল সাড়ে ১০টায় উখিয়ার ১৫নং ক্যাম্পের ব্লক ডি-১২ এ পাহাড়ে মাটি কাটতে গেলে এই পাহাড়ের ধসের ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহত ছৈয়দ উল্লাহ ১৫নং ক্যাম্পের ইমাম হোসেনের ছেলে। আহতরা হলো- ১৪নং ক্যাম্পের সৈয়দ নূর (১৫) ও একই ক্যাম্পের এনায়েত রহমান (৬)। বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে উখিয়া থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) আরিফ হোসেন জানান, সকালে পাহাড় কাটার সময় মাটি ধসে পড়ে। এতে মাটির নিচে তিন শিশু চাপা পড়ে। এ সময় দুজনকে উদ্ধার করা সম্ভব হলেও ছৈয়দ উল্লাহ মাটি চাপা পড়ে মারা যায়। তিনি আরও জানান, নিহতের মরদেহ কক্সবাজার সদর হাসপাতালে প্রেরণ করা হয়েছে। আহতদের উদ্ধার করে উখিয়া উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে চিকিৎসা দেয়া হচ্ছে।
