China on Wednesday expressed concern and regret over India’s missile strikes on Pakistan, calling on both nations to exercise restraint amid escalating tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors.

The strikes came as India and Pakistan exchanged heavy artillery fire along their disputed border, following India's retaliation for a recent terror attack. Pakistan reported at least eight fatalities due to the Indian strikes, while India said three civilians were killed by Pakistani shelling along the Line of Control in Kashmir.

Responding to the developments, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “India and Pakistan are neighbors that cannot be moved apart—and they are also China’s neighbors. We are concerned about the current situation and regret India’s military action this morning.”

While reaffirming its opposition to all forms of terrorism, China urged both sides to prioritize regional peace and stability. “We call on both India and Pakistan to remain calm, exercise restraint, and avoid actions that could further escalate tensions,” the spokesperson added.
