Claudia Sheinbaum to become Mexico’s first female president
Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico's ruling Morena party has been declared the winner of the presidential election. Following Sunday's (June 2) voting, she is currently leading the race to become the country's first female president, reports Reuters.
Pollster Parametrica predicted Sheinbaum won 56 percent of the vote. While his opposition candidate Yosity Galvez got 30 percent of the votes. Four other post-election polls have Scheinbaum on track to win.
Upon winning the election, she is scheduled to assume the presidency on October 1 for a six-year term.
