Commission formed over BDR carnage records statements of 37 people
The National Independent Investigation Commission for investigating into 2009 BDR carnage on Thursday said that they had taken statements of 37 people in 41 working days since December 24, 2024.
The witnesses are mostly former Army officers, including three Lieutenant Generals, two Major Generals, five Brigadier Generals, four Colonels, Lieutenant Colonels, seven Majors, two Captains, seven BDR members and three slain families, said the commission president retired Major General ALM Fazlur Rahman at a press conference in the city.
‘Of the Army, some are serving and most of them are former Army officers,’ said the commission president.
He said that the commission had requested the authorities concerned to slap ban on several people’s foreign travel.
Fazrlur also said that the commission decided to contact with some foreign embassies and had already sent letter to the foreign ministry in this connection.
At least 74 people, including 57 army officers, were killed in the BDR carnage took place in February 25-26, 2009.
