Complaint filed with ICT against 41 including Hasina over Dr Fayez murder
A complaint has been filed with International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) over the murder of Lakshmipur district Jamaat-e-Islam Ameer Dr Fayez Ahmed who was shot dead at his home on December 23, 2013.
Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her then military adviser Tareq Ahmed Siddiqui and 39 others have been accused in the case. RAB officer Tareq Sayeed, who masterminded the seven murders in Narayanganj, is also among the accused. The accused have been charged with crimes against humanity.
Dr Fayez Ahmed's son Dr Hasanul Banna filed the complaint with the Chief Prosecutor's Office on Thursday (January 16).
Dr Fayez's wife Marzia Fayez said, “Around 12 midnight, a RAB team broke open the gate, entered the house and searched various rooms. At one point, they asked Dr Faiz to go to the roof of the house with them. At that time, he refused to go to the roof saying, ‘I am sick. It will be difficult to climb the stairs to the roof. If you want, take me to the police station’.”
“At that time, they detained Faiz and forcibly took him to the roof of the house. The law enforcers shot him and threw him down from the roof. At one point during the search, we received news that his body was lying in the hospital area late at night,” she said.
