Awami League-Anti-Discrimination Student Movement
Counter-programs at zero point
In observance of Shaheed Noor Hossain Day, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has announced a counter-program to oppose the Awami League's planned activities at Zero Point in capital's Gulistan.
Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Movement, Hasnat Abdullah, announced on his Facebook profile that their organization would hold a program at Zero Point at 12:00pm on Sunday.
Earlier, the Awami League had announced a protest march at Shaheed Noor Hossain Square at Zero Point at 3.00 PM on the same day, demanding the "removal of undemocratic forces and the restoration of the democratic system."
A few hours after the Awami League's announcement, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement declared its own program in response.
Meanwhile, Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary to the Chief Advisor, declared that no marches, gatherings, or programs by the Awami League would be permitted on the streets. In a Facebook post, he branded the Awami League as fascist and warned that law enforcement agencies would take strict action if they attempted any assembly or procession.
Interim government advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan also posted on Facebook, stating that "if members of genocidal and banned organizations attempt to hold any programs, law enforcement will take strong action."
