Country is in crisis, but unity can lead to a solution: Mirza Fakhrul
The country is currently in a crisis, and a solution is possible only through collective efforts, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He made the statement while attending an event at the Bark Auditorium in Khamaarbari, Dhaka on Friday. BNP’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, joined the event online as the chief guest.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Religion should not create social divisions; all religions have worked to unite humanity.”
The BNP Secretary General added, “Every religion teaches people to be good. When society is filled with sin, injustice, and falsehood, that’s when the Creator sends a great soul to eliminate that sin. The appearance of Jesus Christ was for the same purpose— to purify society from sin. Every religion, in essence, speaks of love, goodness, and peace.”
Mirza Fakhrul further emphasized, “We fought for Bangladesh in 1971. The brotherhood and unity with which we fought for independence, that spirit and consciousness of unity should remain intact. Today, no force should be able to divide us.”
He continued, “We are going through a critical moment today. We all fought to establish democracy. We want a state where everyone has the right to speak, where everyone has equal rights, and where people can elect their representatives through their vote. This is what we desire, and today that opportunity has arisen. We hope everyone will make the best use of this opportunity. Let there be unity, not division; let there be love, not vengeance, as we build this country.”
The event was organized by the Bangladesh Christian Forum for Easter Sunday Reunion and Greetings, where leaders of the Christian community also participated.
