Countrymen have come to know new history in last 15 years: FM

Foreign Minister and Awami League joint general secretary Hasan Mahmud said the people of the country have come to know a new history in the last 15 years.

He came up with the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting on the occasion of Independence Day organized by the Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance at Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of the National Press Club on Friday (March 29). The discussion meeting was chaired by Chittaranjan Das, General Secretary of Sabuj Bagh Thana Awami League.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, "Ziaur Rahman fought on the battlefield and Begum Zia and her son lived comfortably in the cantonment in Pakistan. Through this, it has become clear that Ziaur Rahman was Pakistan's friend. When it became clear today, now BNP leaders and workers are upset."

"Ziaur Rahman participated in the liberation war as a spy for Pakistanis. Attempts are being made to make villains like Ziaur Rahman heroes today. They (BNP) lied for 21 years after killing Bangabandhu. They (BNP) did not let the generation after '75 know the real history of independence. In the last 15 years, the people of the country have come to know the new history. People have also come to know that Ziaur Rahman was actually a villain," he added.
