Court orders to confiscate more of Benazir's property
A Dhaka court has ordered to confiscate more assets, worth several hundred crores of taka, owned by former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, his wife and two daughters.
Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court Mohammad Jaglul Hossain passed the order on Wednesday (June 12), said Mahmud Hossain Jahangir, Special Public Prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
He said the copy of the order has been sent to the ACC for taking effective action.
The properties which have been ordered to be confiscated are 24 katha land at Anand Housing Society in Rupganj, 3 katha land in Gulshan, 13.66 katha land in Badda, six flats at Adabar, 3,750 square feet of office space at Rupayan Millennium Square in the capital, 25 acres of land in Bandarban.
Apart from this, the goods of Citizen Television Limited and Tejera Fit Apparels Limited owned by Benazir Ahmed have also been ordered to be confiscated.
Earlier, on April 23 and April 26, more than 100 bigha of land owned by Benazir and his family members and immovable assets under different names were also ordered to be confiscated.
Later more of his assets were found and the court has now ordered to confiscate those properties also.
