Ctg Jubo Mohila League leader Zeenat detained

Zeenat Sohana Chowdhury, a leader of the Jubo Mohila League in Chattogram and reportedly known as a "close associate" of former State Minister for Information Mohammad A. Arafat, has been arrested by police. She was detained around 1:00 AM on Monday night (May 13) from a residence in the Bayezid area of Chattogram city.

Zeenat Sohana is originally from Rauzan upazila in Chattogram. She holds several notable positions—Divisional Coordinator of the Suchinta Foundation, former member of Chattogram Development Authority (CDA), Chairperson of Farmin Group, and former member of both the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and BGMEA. Her husband, Mohammad Imran, is the President of the Florida state of the US Awami League and a former Joint General Secretary of the Chittagong University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League.

According to police, Zeenat Sohana is a named accused in a case filed at Kotwali Police Station in connection with a clash that took place on December 4 last year between police and followers of Chinmoy Krishna Brahmachari at the Chattogram court premises. The case names 29 leaders from Chhatra League, Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League, Awami League, and ISKCON. Additionally, 40–50 unidentified individuals were also accused in the case.

Bayezid Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Arifur Rahman confirmed the arrest and stated that she was apprehended from a residence in the Bayezid area. Following her arrest, she was immediately handed over to Kotwali Police Station in relation to the case
