Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed hope that Bangladesh Customs will play a leading role in strengthening the country’s economy and building a prosperous national revenue treasury.

In a message on the occasion of 'International Customs Day' on January 26, the Chief Adviser conveyed this expectation.

He said, “In the process of building a transformed Bangladesh, I believe Bangladesh Customs will restore the momentum of the country’s economy by simplifying import-export processes and ensuring the safe supply of goods.”

Muhammad Yunus added, “In the current global, political, and economic context, I believe that the skilled workforce of Bangladesh Customs will ensure the rapid inspection, customs clearance, and release of import-export goods through technology-driven methods. This will streamline the supply chain and ensure the dynamism of the country’s economy.”

The Chief Adviser stated, “Just like other countries in the world, I welcome the initiative taken by the National Board of Revenue to observe International Customs Day-2025 in Bangladesh. Under the theme ‘Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity,’ Bangladesh, as a member state of the World Customs Organization (WCO), is also celebrating International Customs Day along with other countries around the world.”

Professor Muhammad Yunus extended sincere greetings to the officers and employees of Bangladesh Customs, service recipients, stakeholders, and all related parties. He highlighted the unique role of Bangladesh Customs in promoting international trade, increasing foreign investment, protecting local industries and markets, and continuing the country’s economic activities.

He further said, “The skilled workforce of Bangladesh Customs not only ensures revenue collection but also contributes to the protection of the country’s environment, public health, and the continuity of international trade. This has been helping improve the quality of life for the people of the country. In this context, I believe this year's theme for Customs Day—‘Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity’—is very timely and significant.”

He wished for the overall success of ‘International Customs Day-2025.’
