Death of 5 people at Sadarghat: 5 to be interrogated at jail gate
A Dhaka court has granted permission to police to interrogate five persons, who were arrested in connection with the death of five people in Sadarghat launch accident, at the jail gate.
Dhaka Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate AKM Rafiqul Hasan passed the order responding to a plea of the IO of the case.
Naval police SI Nakib Aijul Haque sought permission to interrogate the arrestees at the jail gate for two days.
On April 11, five people were killed after a launch rope reportedly tore down during a faulty parking attempt by another launch in Dhaka's Sadarghat.
Two launches, MV Tasrif-4 and MV Pubali-1, were tied to the ghat with ropes. When another launch named Farhan tried to enter between the two launches, the rope of MV Tasrif-4 tore down.
The Farhan launch was reportedly parking too fast, which caused the rope of the Tusharif 4 to break, said police.
Police later detained five individuals in connection with the incident.
