Death toll climbs to 10 in Chattogram bus-microbus crash

Two more people injured in the bus-microbus crash in Lohagara, Chattogram, have died while undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, bringing the death toll to 10. Two others are in serious condition.

Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Arifur Rahman confirmed the matter.

Among the deceased are three women, two children, and five men. However, their identities have not yet been confirmed.

The accident occurred around 7:30 am
on Wednesday (April 2) in the Chunati Jangalya area of the upazila. Eight people died on the spot.

Eyewitness and bus passenger Matin Mia said, "The Chattogram-bound Relax Paribahan bus lost control. The driver tried several times to stop the bus. Meanwhile, it collided head-on with a Cox’s Bazar-bound microbus coming from the opposite direction. Eight microbus passengers died on the spot, and four others were injured."

Earlier, on Eid day (Monday), a head-on collision between two buses at the same spot killed five people. On Tuesday, two microbuses lost control at the same location and fell into a ditch, injuring eight people.
