Decision taken to cancel DSHE notice regarding 'propaganda'
The government issued a notice on January 19 stating that actions would be taken against students spreading propaganda or engaging in anti-government activities. However, following widespread criticism, the decision was made to cancel the notice.
The interim government's education adviser, Wahiduddin Mahmud, confirmed it to the media. He mentioned that he was not aware of the issuance of this notice.
Earlier, the notice was published on the website of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), which is under the Ministry of Education. The notice was signed by Professor Abed Nomani, Director of the Monitoring and Evaluation Branch of DSHE.
The notice stated that at the monthly coordination meeting of departments and agencies under the Ministry of Education, there should be vigilance against any kind of propaganda, false information, or rumors related to the government or the state. It emphasized that students should not engage in any provocative activities, and those involved should be reported to higher authorities for necessary action.
DSHE has already sent related instructions to the District Education Officers (DEOs) of all 64 districts. Several DEOs have confirmed receiving this directive and stated that they have started monitoring activities in their respective areas.
