Deep depression over North Bay, Signal no 3 for maritime ports
According to a special weather bulletin, the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three and lower the distant cautionary signal due to the deep depression over the North Bay.
The bulletin added that the maritime ports, North Bay, and nearby coastal areas of Bangladesh could experience squally weather due to deep convection occurring over the North Bay.
The deep depression in the East-Central Bay and adjoining West-Central Bay has shifted northward within the same region, near latitude 18.2°N and longitude 89.8°E. As of 12 noon today, it is centered approximately 500 kilometers southwest of Chattogram port, 435 kilometers southwest of Cox's Bazer port, 475 kilometers south of Mongla port, and 425 kilometers south of Payra port.
It is likely to intensify and move northwards further.
Winds within 48 kilometers of the deep depression center reach a maximum sustained speed of about 50 kilometers per hour, increasing to 60 kilometers per hour in gusts or squalls. Seas will remain rough in the vicinity of the deep depression center.
Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay and deep sea are urged to seek shelter without delay.
