DESCO holds discussion on Independence Day
Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO) has held a discussion on the occasion of the Independence Day.
The discussion titled "Historic Leadership and Development of the Country" was organised in honor of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The session took place at 11am on Tuesday at the DESCO Training Building.
Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University,delivered the keynote speech in the event.
He stated: "Our responsibility is to educate the new generation about the true history of Bangladesh. We must understand the struggle of Bangabandhu and hold the spirit of the independence. Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are synonymous. He embodied unique leadership and Pakistanis understood that Bangabandhu was their only enemy soon after the new coutry was formed. He fought for the people and the country throughout his life. He sought language freedom. He endeavored to ignite the torch of independence among farmers and workers. He aimed to build Sonar Bangla with the help of everyone. We must uphold his ideals as our guiding light."
In his speech, he highlighted the evaluation of Bangabandhu by the heads of state, diplomats, journalists and general public at home and abroad.
DESCO Executive Director (Finance) Mohammad Tofazzal Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
The discussion programme was chaired by DESCO Executive Director administration Khandaker Zahirul Islam.
At the end of the discussion, prayers were offered for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War, including the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members.
DESCO Executive Engineer Jagadish Chandra Mondal, Executive Director (Revenue) AKM Mohiuddin, Executive Director (Operation) Md Jakir Hossen were present on the stage.
In addition, DESCO's Chief Engineer, senior management, and other high-ranking officials were also present.
The event was conducted by General Manager (Administration), Mr Mamunur Rashid.
