Dhaka-Chattogram-Sylhet train service suspended
Train service on the Dhaka-Chattogram and Sylhet route has been suspended as a bogie of a freight train derailed in Brahmanbaria.
The incident occurred at Pairtala in Brahmanbaria municipal area, one kilometer away from Brahmanbaria railway station, at 10:45 pm on Friday.
Acting Station Master of Brahmanbaria Railway Station Jasim Uddin said that a bogie of a Dhaka-bound freight train leaving Chattogram derailed. At that time, a container in the derailed bogie overturned and fell onto the adjacent down (Chattogram-bound) line. Train service on both the up and down lines has been suspended. As a result, train service on the Dhaka-Chattogram and Dhaka-Sylhet railway lines has been suspended.
Although a rescue train prepared to reach the scene from Akhaura Junction Station after receiving the news, it did not leave until 12:45 am, according to relevant sources.
