Dhaka-Ctg rail link snapped as 7 bogies of train derailed in Cumilla
Train communication between Dhaka and Chattogram remained suspended since Sunday afternoon as seven bogies of a train derailed near Tejer Bazar in Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla.
Mahbubur Rahman, Laksam station master, said Jamalpur-bound ‘Bijoy Express’ train from Chattogram veered off the tracks in the area after crossing Gunoboti rail station around 1:50pm as the rail tracks bent due to hot weather, halting train movement on Dhaka-Chattogram route.
At least five people sustained injuries in the incident, he added.
Three relief trains from Pahartoli, Laksham and Akhaura left for the spot to salvage the derailed bogies.
A probe committee would be formed to investigate the incident, said railway officials.
