A severe heat wave is sweeping across the country. New records of temperature increases are being set almost every day. In this intense heat, people are suffering from various diseases including diarrhea, cold and cough. Children and people above 50 are the most affected by these diseases.
In this situation, doctors have advised children to avoid the heat of the sun, as well as to refrain from drinking unsafe water, juices and sherbet opened on the side of the road, and not to consume water from the fridge and ice cream. Doctors said that the temperature is rising. The Meteorological Department says that the temperature in nine regions of the country is more than 40 degrees and they fear that it may increase further.
The Meteorological Office says that the weather may remain like this for the next week. They have also expressed concern that the temperature may even exceed 42 degrees. Meanwhile, the heat alert issued across the country is in force. In the meantime, the number of patients has increased in various hospitals in the capital as the heat increases.
After checking with the Bangladesh Children's Hospital and Institute in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, Bangladesh Medical University, International Centre for Diarrhea Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR, B) and Dhaka Medical College Hospital, it has been found that there has been an alarming increase in diarrhea patients in the last one week.

Patients are lying on the verandah and floor of the ward. Doctors said that the pressure of patients in the hospital is higher than usual.
Doctors are struggling to provide medical services. However, patients who are sick in the heat and come for treatment are also facing difficulties.
Doctors said: "People are getting infected with various diseases due to the change in weather. The pressure of patients may increase further in the next few days. We are trying our best to provide treatment to everyone. The severe heat has affected the district town to the grassroots."
