Direct communication between Nepal's Kakarvita land port and Bangladesh's Banglabandha land port discussed
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury has discussed how goods can be transported directly from Nepal's Kakarvita land port to Bangladesh's Banglabandha land port with Nepal's Commerce Minister Damodar Bhandari.
They discussed the issue of trade expansion in a meeting held at a local hotel in Nepal on Saturday (March 23).
Apart from this, they discussed the bilateral issues related to the mutual interests of the two countries, emphasizing on the easy communication system and trade expansion between Banglabandha and Kakarvita by land.
The State Minister visited Nepal's Kakarvita Land Port on Saturday morning. From Kakarvita, he reached Kathmandu via Bhadrapur Airport. Kakarvita land port is located at a distance of 37km from Banglabandha land port in Bangladesh.
This 37km territory is part of India. Discussions were held on how Nepal can connect with Bangladesh by directly using India's 37km of land. Bangladesh, India and Nepal will work together to use this route directly.
Chairman of Bangladesh Land Port Authority Md Zillur Rahman Chowdhury, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal Salauddin Roman Chowdhury, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Munshi Md Moniruzzaman, part-time member of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Land Port Authority Ziauddin Ahmed Bhuiyan and Land Port Authority Supervising Engineer M Hasan Ali, among others, were also present at that time.
