The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on bursting crackers, lighting lanterns and fireworks in Dhaka on the occasion of the Christmas Day (December 25), says a press release. According to the release signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali on Tuesday (December 24), in order to celebrate the Christmas festival in a solemn and festive atmosphere, all types of fireworks, bursting of crackers and flying of lanterns have been banned in the Dhaka metropolitan area from Tuesday (December 24) midnight to Wednesday (December 25) midnight. The DMP seeks the overall cooperation of the city residents to celebrate the Christmas festival in a fair and safe manner.

খ্রিষ্টান ধর্মাবলম্বীদের ‘বড়দিন’ উদযাপিত হবে বুধবার (২৫ ডিসেম্বর)। এ জন্য আগামীকাল ঢাকায় পটকা ফুটানো, ফানুস উড়ানো ও আতশবাজিতে নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপ করেছে ঢাকা মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশ (ডিএমপি)। মঙ্গলবার (২৪ ডিসেম্বর) ডিএমপি কমিশনার শেখ মো. সাজ্জাত আলী স্বাক্ষরিত এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এ নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপ করা হয়েছে। গণবিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বলা হয়েছে, বড়দিনের অনুষ্ঠান ভাবগম্ভীর ও উৎসবমুখর পরিবেশে উদযাপনের লক্ষ্যে ঢাকা মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশ অর্ডিন্যান্স (অর্ডিন্যান্স নং-III/৭৬) এর ২৮ ধারায় অর্পিত ক্ষমতাবলে মঙ্গলবার (২৪ ডিসেম্বর) রাত ১২টা থেকে বুধবার (২৫ ডিসেম্বর) রাত ১২টা পর্যন্ত ঢাকা মহানগর এলাকায় সব ধরনের আতশবাজি, পটকা ফুটানো এবং ফানুস উড়ানো নিষিদ্ধ করা হলো। বড়দিন অনুষ্ঠান সুষ্ঠু ও নিরাপদে অনুষ্ঠানের লক্ষ্যে নগরবাসীর সার্বিক সহযোগিতা কামনা করছে ডিএমপি।
