DNCC to remove waste during Eid in 6 hours: Mayor
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has said that the waste of the sacrificial animals in the areas under DNCC will be removed within six hours on the day of Eid-ul-Azha.
“Last year, the sacrificial animals’ waste in DNCC areas was removed within eight hours. This year, the city will be cleaned in less time. If the people cooperate, we have a target to remove the wastages within six hours," he said while speaking at a programme organized on the occasion of receiving 32 dump trucks and eight compactors for the waste management of DNCC at Gabtali in the capital on Wednesday (June 12) morning.
He expressed hope that the waste removal work will speed up this year as 40 new trucks have been added.
The DNCC mayor said, "The eight modern compactor trucks that have been added are capable of removing ten times more waste than normal trucks. By compacting, these trucks can carry a lot of waste at once."
Atiqul Islam said that his corporation has made all preparations to remove the waste during the Eid.
He said, "More than 10,000 workers will work in addition to ward councilors and DNCC staff who will work round-the-clock in the field."
