Dozens have sustained injuries when Chhatra League activists and the students protesting against quota locked horn on the Dhaka University (DU) campus. The clashe occurred around 3pm on Monday following counter programmes were called by the two groups. The injured students were sent to different hospitals, including the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and the BIRDEM General Hospital. Meanwhile, Quota reform movement coordinator Nahid Hasan claimed that 50 female protesters so far had been injured in the attack allegedly by Chhatra League. Earlier around 12:00pm, students protesting for the reform of the quota system in government jobs gathered at Raju Memorial Sculpture for their scheduled demonstration to press forth their one-point demand and call for the retraction of the Prime Minister's recent remarks on the issue. Later, BCL members have started their pre-announced rally at the TSC area of the Dhaka University campus. According to witnesses, the protesters were forced to retreat from Bangabandhu, Zia, and Ekattor Halls following an attack by Chhatra League leaders and activists, wielding hockey sticks, rods, and stumps.

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিজয় একাত্তর হলের সামনে কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলনকারীদের সঙ্গে ছাত্রলীগের সংঘর্ষের ঘটনা ঘটেছে। সোমবার (১৫ জুলাই) বিকালে ৩টার দিকে এই সংঘর্ষ হয়। এতে পুরো ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ক্যাম্পাসে থমথমে পরিস্থিতি বিরাজ করছে বলে জানা গেছে। এদিকে কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলনের সমন্বয়ক নাহিদ হাসান দাবি করেছেন, ছাত্রলীগের হামলায় এখন পর্যন্ত ৫০ জন নারী আন্দোলনকারী আহত হয়েছেন। তাদের ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ (ঢামেক) হাসপাতাল ও বারডেম জেনারেল হাসপাতালসহ বিভিন্ন হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়েছে। গণমাধ্যমরে খবরে জানা গেছে, দু’পক্ষের মধ্যে ধাওয়া-পাল্টা ধাওয়ার আগে কোটা সংস্কারের দাবিতে আন্দোলন নিয়ে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার বক্তব্যের প্রতিবাদে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রাজু ভাস্কর্যের সামনে জড়ো হন কোটা আন্দোলনকারী শিক্ষার্থীরা। এ আন্দোলনে যোগ দেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, জগন্নাথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় বুয়েট, ঢাকা কলেজ, ইডেন মহিলা কলেজ, ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজের শিক্ষার্থীরা। এ ব্যাপারে কয়েকজন শিক্ষার্থী অভিযোগ করে সংবাদমাধ্যমকে বলেন, ইডেন মহিলা কলেজ থেকে কোটা সংস্কারের কয়েকজন কর্মী সমাবেশে যোগ দিতে এলে দুপুর সাড়ে ১২টার দিকে কলেজ শাখা ছাত্রলীগের কয়েকজন নেতা গেটে তালা লাগিয়ে তাদের বাধা দিলে তাদের মধ্যে সংঘর্ষ বাধে। এতে কয়েকজন শিক্ষার্থী আহত হয়েছেন।
