Dr Shwapnil’s mother passes away

Ayesha Mahtab, mother of head of the Interventional Hepatology Divi­sion of Banga­bandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Professor Dr Mamun Al Mahtab Shwapnil, has passed away at the age of 77.

She breathed her last around 1:00 pm on Thursday (January 4) at her residence at Banani in the capital.

She left behind his only son Dr Mamun Al Mahtab Shwapnil, who is also a renowned medical columnist; a daughter, and a host of relatives. Her Namaz-e-janaza was held at the mosque adjacent to Banani Graveyard in Dhaka after Esha prayers.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the demise of Ayesha Mahtab. In a condolence message on Friday, the minister prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
