Dr Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, has urged the youth to become independent entrepreneurs.

He said jobs are an ongoing trend of slavery. However, humanity is free.

Dr Yunus said these things in a speech given at Peking University in China on Saturday (March 29) morning. Earlier, the university authorities conferred an honorary doctorate degree on the chief advisor.

Dr Yunus said the main priority of the new Bangladesh that I have received responsibility for is to eliminate poverty. However, there are numerous obstacles on the way forward. To overcome them, the participation of all citizens in the development of the country is necessary.

The chief advisor said numerous young people in my country are fighting for the development of the right opportunities. The people of my country are poor because the economic system has suppressed them. This is the root of all the problems of the people of my country.

He said every citizen has the right to enter the job market by studying in a good institution. However, jobs are a wrong concept. Jobs destroy creativity.

The Chief Adviser went to China on Wednesday on a four-day state visit. During the visit, he met with the country's President Xi Jinping. The Teesta project was discussed extensively during the visit. Earlier, Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus spoke at the Boao Forum for Asia conference on Thursday.

He is scheduled to return home today after his visit to China.
