Driver-helper killed in Cumilla road crash
A road accident in Comilla resulted in the deaths of a driver and a helper in a covered van. Upon receiving the information, the police promptly recovered the victims' bodies and the van, sending them to the highway police station for investigation.
The accident occurred on Tuesday morning (June 4) in the Chupua area of Chauddagram upazila along the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
The deceased were identified as Sagor (driver) and Belal (helper) of Kurigram district.
SM Lokman Hossain, OC of Miyabazar Highway Police Station, said, "A Dhaka-bound van stalled in Chupua. The driver and helper sought assistance from another van. While they were attempting to restart the van, another vehicle collided with it from behind, resulting in their deaths. They were pronounced dead at the Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex after being rescued."
"However, three covered vans involved in the accident have been seized, but the driver and helper of the van responsible for the fatalities have fled," the official added.
