Durbar Rajshahi players boycott practice over salary dispute
The Chattogram phase of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to begin on Thursday, but Durbar Rajshahi is grappling with a serious payment crisis. Players, both local and international, boycotted their scheduled practice session on Wednesday at the MA Aziz Stadium due to unpaid salaries.
The franchise later canceled the session, citing the need for rest, but sources confirmed that the players’ decision stemmed from bounced checks covering 25% of their dues.
According to BPL regulations, players are entitled to 50% of their salaries before the tournament begins. However, citing financial challenges, several franchises, including Rajshahi, have failed to meet this obligation. While the coaches reportedly received 25% of their payments, the players remain unpaid, fueling frustration as the tournament progresses.
BCB President Faruque Ahmed previously assured that payment issues would be resolved promptly, but the situation remains unchanged.
