Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the Interim Government, said that economic indicators have started to show positive trends.

He made this comment in a speech to the nation on the evening of Tuesday (March 25).

Dr. Muhammad Yunus said, "For the past 16 years, the massive looting carried out by Sheikh Hasina harmed the common people. In the face of a student-public uprising, they fled, leaving behind a shattered economy. After taking responsibility, the interim government has taken various steps to revive the economy."

He further said, "Discipline has returned to the banking sector, and gradually, other economic indicators are starting to show positive trends. The biggest challenge for this government is inflation. In February, inflation dropped below 9.32%, the lowest in 22 months." He expressed hope that it would fall below 8% by June.

The chief adviser expressed relief that the prices of essential goods have been under control during Ramadan, saying, "This year, during Ramadan, commodity prices have decreased compared to previous years, and the people have been relieved. The efforts to control prices will continue."

"Since this government took office, strict measures have been taken to control the prices of goods. The major challenges during Ramadan and Eid were to control prices and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. We have made every effort to prevent any price hikes and to ensure smooth electricity supply during this time," he added.
