Education ministry not to appeal against HC order, school-madrasa closed till May 2
The Ministry of Education will not appeal against the High Court (HC) order to suspend classes in primary and secondary schools and madrasas till next Thursday (May 2) amid the ongoing heatwave across the country, said Public Relations Officer of the ministry Md Abul Khair on Tuesday (April 30).
As a result, schools and madrasas will remain closed till Thursday (May 2).
He said that no copy of the court order has reached the ministry yet. Besides, as the Supreme Court is closed, there is no scope to appeal.
Earlier, considering the ongoing heatwave, the HC yesterday ordered the closure of classes in primary and secondary schools and madrasas till next Thursday.
The instruction was given to the authorities concerned including secretary to education ministry and secretary to primary and mass education ministry.
The HC bench comprising of Justice KM Kamrul Quader and Justice Khizir Hayat passed order after the court’s attention was brought to various media reports about the death of some teachers due to the ongoing heatwave.
