Following a countrywide heatwave, all educational institutions previously closed will resume classes on Sunday (May 5). The Ministry of Education issued a notice to this effect on Saturday (May 4).

The notice, signed by the Ministry's Public Relations Officer MA Khayer, states that classes at all educational institutions will recommence from Sunday.

Schools and colleges were scheduled to reopen on April 21 after the end of Eid holidays but the closure was extended till April 27 due to sweltering heat across the country caused by heat waves.

Classes resumed on April 28 although there was no remarkable change in the heat wave condition, worrying the guardians, especially those of primary level students.

The closure of primary and secondary level educational institutions was extended until May 2 by the authorities in response to a High Court order.

The HC passed the suo moto order following reports of death and sickness of people including teachers and students after the reopening of the educational institutions.
