Eid date to be fixed Tuesday
The National Moon Sighting Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday to determine the date of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
This meeting will be held in Baitul Mukarram Islamic Foundation meeting room on Tuesday (April 9) at 6:30pm with Minister of Religion Md Faridul Haque Khan in the chair.
In a press release on Monday, the Islamic Foundation said, the date of Eid-ul-Fitr celebration will be decided after reviewing the news of the moon sighting of Shawwal month in 1445 Hijri.
Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, is celebrated on the 1st of Shawwal after a month of fasting.
Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday if the Shawwal moon is seen in the sky on Tuesday. And if the moon is not seen on Tuesday, the month of Ramadan will complete 30 days on Wednesday; In that case, Eid will be on Thursday.
If the moon of Ramadan is seen in the sky of Bangladesh on Tuesday, the Islamic Foundation has requested to be informed by phone on 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916 and 02-41050917 and by fax on 02-223383397 and 02-9555951.
Besides, the District Commissioner and Upazila Nirbahi Officer of the concerned district have also been requested to inform about moon sighting.
