Eid Journey: Advance train ticket sales for June 4 starts today
Bangladesh Railway has launched the sale of advance train tickets ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, with tickets for June 4 journeys available starting today.
As part of special Eid arrangements, all tickets for intercity trains will be sold exclusively online to ease passenger access and reduce overcrowding at stations.
Ticket sales for trains traveling to the western region began at 8:00am, while tickets for the eastern region will be available online from 2:00pm. This digital-only ticketing initiative aims to ensure smoother travel during the Eid rush.
In total, 43 intercity trains will operate during the Eid season, offering around 33,315 seats. Additionaly, Bangladesh Railway will run 10 special Eid trains on five routes between June 4–6 and June 9–14. Notably, some of these special trains will also operate on Eid day itself. Unlike regular trains, tickets for special Eid trains will be sold only at station counters and will not be available online.
Passengers should also note that 25 percent standing tickets for each intercity train will be sold at station counters.
Under the special Eid schedule, advance ticket sales are being staggered sales starting from May 21. Tickets for travel on May 31 were sold on that date, followed by tickets for June 2 on May 23, and tickets for June 3 on May 24. Today, May 25, tickets for June 4 are being sold, while tickets for June 5 and June 6 will be available on May 26 and May 27 respectively.
Each passenger is allowed to purchase up to four tickets at a time, and all tickets bought under this arrangement are non-refundable.
