Sheikh Hasina and her family have been accused of embezzling a substantial sum of money from the country's infrastructure projects. As part of the ongoing investigation into these allegations, Tulip Siddiq, a member of the UK's Labour Party and Sheikh Hasina’s niece, has come under scrutiny.

According to The Sunday Times, UK officials have questioned Tulip Siddiq. The City Minister is being investigated for her alleged role in embezzling £3.9 billion alongside four family members, involving a nuclear power plant deal in Bangladesh.

On Sunday, it was revealed that a representative from the Cabinet Office's propriety and ethics team had interviewed Tulip Siddiq on Thursday regarding these claims. This follows reports suggesting that she may also face questioning by Bangladesh’s anti-corruption authorities.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Bangladesh began its investigation last week into Tulip Siddiq; her mother, Sheikh Rehana Siddiq; and her aunt, Sheikh Hasina Wazed.

Tulip Siddiq is accused of facilitating a deal with Russia in 2013 for the Rooppur project, which allegedly inflated its costs. Her involvement has led to a controversial situation within the Labour Party's Cabinet.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh's Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a significant investigation into corruption linked to the Rooppur project. The Sunday Times reports that Sheikh Hasina's family and her ministers are accused of embezzling nearly £3.9 billion from the project. Investigations into Tulip Siddiq's involvement are also ongoing.

The allegations against Tulip Siddiq became public on Sunday, sparking a significant reaction in both Bangladesh and the UK. However, she has yet to make an official statement on the matter.
