Ex-Chhatra League leader Nodi detained
Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police in a drive arrested Nishita Iqbal Nodi, former vice-president of the Bangladesh Chhatra League.
Nodi was arrested from Bashundhara Residential Area on Saturday night, said Rezaul Karim Mallick of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Many leaders of the Chhatra League, student wing of the Awami League are in jail now after the organisation was banned by the interim government following the change in government.
Although Nodi has been named in several cases, Rezaul could not provide details regarding which case she was arrested.
After the fall of the Awami League government, the interim government banned the Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of the Awami League, on Oct 23, following demands by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement that toppled the Awami League government. The Chhatra League was blamed for much of the ‘violence’ surrounding the movement.
