A case has been filed against Prof Narayan Chandra Nath, the former secretary of the Chattogram education board and current director of Secondary and Higher Education in Chittagong, over manipulation of his son's HSC exam results. Three more people have been sued over the matter.

Present Secretary of the board, Dr AKM Samsu Uddin filed the case with Panchlaish Police Station on Tuesday.

The other accused in the case are former chairman of the Chittagong Education Board, Professor Mustafa Kamrul Akhtar, former senior system analyst Kibria Masud Khan and Narayan Chandra Nath's son Nakshatra Debnath. They have been charged with conspiring to cheat and forgery in the HSC examination results under sections 420/465/466/467/468/471/34 and sections 5/6/12/13 of the Public Examinations (Offences) Act, 1980.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Panchlaish Police Station Mohammad Solaiman confirmed the matter.

According to the Ministry's findings, Nath was instrumental in ensuring his son received a GPA-5 in the 2023 HSC examination through fraudulent means. Following a thorough investigation by MAUSI, which submitted its report on 4 August, the Ministry concluded that the allegations were true and ordered the immediate cancellation of his son's results.

Nath's son's fraudulent results came under scrutiny following a cabinet department directive, which led to an official investigation by MAUSI. The fraud involved the deliberate manipulation of the HSC results under Nath's influence as a high-ranking education official.
