Ex-Minister Hasan Mahmud appears publicly at Eid prayers in London

Former Bangladeshi Foreign Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud made a rare public appearance in the UK, attending Eid prayers at Al-Kalam Mosque in Gants Hill, London, on Sunday.

Mahmud had remained out of the public eye since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5 last year, following a student-led movement. His presence in London comes amid speculation about his whereabouts.

Photographs circulating on social media show Mahmud greeting acquaintances after the prayers, including an image of him embracing Syed Farooq, General Secretary of the UK Awami League. Another picture shows him interacting with local community members.

Mahmud faces multiple legal cases in Bangladesh, including charges in Dhaka and Chattogram related to violence during the anti-discrimination movement, involving allegations of gunfire and explosive devices.
