Ex-Miss Ireland Maksuda Akhter dazzles at Cannes in Irish designer gown

Former Miss Ireland Maksuda Akhter made a stunning appearance on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, wearing a striking gown by renowned Irish designer Claire Garvey.

Known for its high-fashion moments, Cannes draws global attention—and Maksuda didn’t disappoint. She wore a pristine white ballgown adorned with diamond-like icicles and pearls across the bodice. A tasteful side slit and layered white ruffles gave the dress both elegance and modern flair, glistening in the summer sun.

She accessorized with silver flower-shaped earrings and a matching silver clutch. Her hair and makeup, styled by Kristina Joy, featured pearl accents woven into her hair to mirror the gown’s design. A bold red lip and classic black eyeliner completed the look.

Maksuda is no stranger to red carpet glamour. After being crowned Miss Ireland in 2014, she went on to win the Miss Earth International title in Jamaica, Miss Universal Royalty (as featured by RTÉ), and the UK Top Model competition in 2021.
