Ex-MP Selim Altaf George arrested

A team of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch apprehended Selim Altaf George, former member of parliament for Kushtia-4, in capital's Lalmatia area around midnight on Tuesday (September 17).

Rezaul Karim Mallik, the chief of the Detective Branch, confirmed this matter.

He said,  "Multiple murder cases had been filed against Selim in both Kushtia and Dhaka. Process are undergoing to present him as an arrestee in a murder case to the court and seek remand."

Selim, an Awami League leader, contested the 11th general election and served as the MP for Kushtia-4 from 2019 to 2024.
