Export earnings increase by 6.78% in Sept
Bangladesh's export earnings in September increased by 6.78 percent despite workers’ unrest in garment sector.
According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Bangladesh's export earnings in September reached US $3.51 billion, a $220 million jump compared to the same period last year.
EPB Vice Chairman Anwar Hossain said this at a press conference on monthly export earnings review at his office on Wednesday.
He said they prepared the data based on real time shipments data as per NBR Asycuda world.
He said, "from now on we will come up with a detailed analysis of the export earnings every month."According to EPB data, Bangladesh's export earnings rose 5.04 percent to $11.37 billion in the July-September first quarter of the current fiscal year, higher than $10.82 billion from the same period in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
The ready-made garment industry (RMG) continued to dominate the foreign market with a growth of 5.34 percent in the three months, earning $9.29 billion.
Among these, exports of knitwear were $5.22 billion, with an incremental growth of 5.72 percent, and woven garments were $4.07 billion, a growth of 4.85 percent.
In September 2024, the export revenue in one month was 2.78 billion dollars. This is 6 percent higher than in September 2023.
