Ex-president Abdul Hamid leaves Bangladesh
Nine months after the fall of the Awami League government, former President Abdul Hamid departed for Bangkok, Thailand. He left Dhaka at 3:05 am on Thursday aboard Thai Airways flight TG340.
A reliable source at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport confirmed the matter.
The source said Abdul Hamid reached the airport around 11:00pm, and after completing immigration and required checks, he was cleared to depart the country.
At least one murder case has been filed against Abdul Hamid. The case was registered on January 14 at Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station, naming him along with former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul, and Obaidul Quader as accused.
Before this, nearly 50 cases had been filed in Kishoreganj district against various Awami League leaders, but Abdul Hamid had not been named in any of them until the January 14 case.
