Utpal Roy, a 62-year-old former Project Director at Save the Children, was found brutally murdered in his flat on the seventh floor of a building in Tanbazar Sahapara, Narayanganj, on Monday night.

Utpal's throat was slit. He is survived by two sons—one living abroad and the other a doctor.

According to police, quoting the victim’s family, a maid from the Bandar area arrived at Utpal Roy’s flat between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Monday to perform household chores. She reportedly left between 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm, and nothing appeared unusual at that time. Around 9:30 pm, Utpal's son Ujjal Roy returned home to find the door locked from the inside. Ujjal broke the lock to enter the apartment, only to find his father lying in a pool of blood, brutally murdered.

The authorities have since launched a thorough investigation into the crime, but no suspects have been identified yet.

Mohammad Nasir Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station, confirmed the matter. He said, "Police have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrator and the motive. Legal action will follow accordingly."
